How much does a caterpillar eat in a day?  Half of my gardening efforts every year seem to be for the benefit of hungry caterpillars.

Now, I am an eco-friendly bloke and I really don't mind donating a (small) part of my crop to the greedy little vandals.  But there has to be a limit!

Just how much does your average caterpillar expect to gorge its way through in a day?
