Onions versus Shallots...
« on: 03 July, 2015, 01:57:26 PM »
A)    Shallots are much more expensive than onions.

B)    Shallots are much fiddlier to peel than onions and, being so much smaller, they're fiddlier to slice.

Are they worth it? Are they just a fancy fad? What do you think are the advantages of a shallot is over an onion?

How much real difference does it make to a recipe if I substitute the fancy shallots with onions?

I've grown onions but never grown shallots. Are shallots worth growing?

I get less wind from shallots, compared to onions.
