Years ago, I'm not quite sure how many, you used to be able to buy table and cooking salt separately. What was/is the difference between the two?

Table salt was a fine grain where as cooking salt was coarse and not quite as refined as table salt. One used to be able to buy blocks of cooking salt and grate it oneself.
