GUEST QUESTIONS

As you will realise I have no knowledge of the experiences you have had with spamming via guest membership - other than that it was a big enough issue to make the decision to abandon guest membership.
Did you recruit many full members who originally visited as guests? If the answer is no then please go no further, however, if it was a successful means of recruiting members is it worth re-visiting and considering again, as I am sure was done at the time, ways of minimising spamming at source and or moderating the spam that does get through?

There are spam engines that search for SMF software specifically to post spam which is why we banned guests from posting - porn pictures posted in the middle of the night and links to dodgy sites. Not what we wanted from a family-friendly site.

I have noticed that some sites put a verification word in so one as to type it in to stop spamming
