I don't mean in the ocean...not traces of gold floating in the water but gold under the oceans, under the sea bed, able to be mined?

Not being a mining expert I can't see why the existence of gold should be restricted solely to under dry land. So, is gold evenly distributed around the world, as much under dry land or under the oceans?

I ask because I can't remember ever reading about anyone mining for gold under the sea. Is anyone mining for gold under the sea?
