How much did this car sell for?
« on: 10 September, 2017, 11:07:25 AM »

It's a very rare Ferrari that had lain undiscovered in a Japanese farmer's barn for forty years. (Or to be more precise for all you car fans, it's a unique 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta.)

Although five alloy-bodied Daytonas raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, only one road version was ever produced. This one.

It is the only street version Berlinetta with a full aluminium body that Ferrari ever built - so, by any measure, it is mega-rare!

Newsflash! It came up for auction by Sotheby's yesterday (Saturday 9th September) in Japan and I want to know how much the lucky new buyer had to pay for it. But I can't find any info on the Net - not a peep. Maybe I am not searching properly?

Can I enlist your help? How much did the lost Ferrari eventually go under the hammer for?

It went for 1.807M, according to:

Makes you want to buy a cheap car and stick it in a barn for 50 years in the vague hope it becomes collectable! Do you think a '12 Ford Ka will get the same treatment?

That's 1,644,240 in great British quids of the realm! - Or 548 (and a half) Ford Ka's at the going rate.
Plus you can bung in a hundred used Nissan Micra's to foot the cost of renovating the car back to perfect showroom condition.
A veritable snip eh? Bliddy nice car though.
