My daughter is off to a Mendhi (sp?) today - what is this for, and what will she experience?  What other constitutent parts are there to a traditional Bangladeshi wedding celebration?

Not sure about the other customs but the Mehndi is a pre-wedding ceremony held by the brides side. Its mostly a female only affair where they put henna designs on the brides hands/arms/feet (I believe the other girls also get designs done). Its not only a Bangladeshi ceremony but is also found as part of ceremonies in India and Pakistan in both Hindu and Muslim weddings

Depending on whether they are Hindu or Muslim, the other ceremonies would be different, but you could find some at the above site.
Can try this as well for some of the cultural ceremonies.
