... could it possibly be that it's 93 feet east of the Meridian?
mmmm ... except Brick Lane must be about three miles west of Greenwich

A good thought, Mrs Too...'tis a puzzler, I'm hoping their site will be up again in the near future and then all may become clear.

I'm sure it can't be this easy or someone else would have thought of it .....could it possibly be that it's 93 feet east of the Meridian?

Hmm, the plot thinnens and thickens in equal measure.
Thanks chaps.

They have their own Website http://www.93feeteast.co.uk/ but it seems to be down at the moment. They also have MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter and the other current trendy sites but they just list whats on or review what's been on and don't give any history. Maybe the Website will be accessible soon.

Didn't take long to find the name - just cut'n'paste the following line into Google.

feet (north, south, east, west) bar brick lane

No idea how the name came about though...

P-K's Q about stuff in the environs of Brick Lane reminded me that I've heard there's a bar in said district called something like "X(number) feet (compass point)"...so something along the lines of "25 feet east", but I can't remember the number or the direction (although I'm fairly sure it's east).
Anyway, does such an establishment still exist? What's it actually called? And finally and potentially most interestingly, why is it called that?
